Ekaterine Merabishvili

We are proud to present the Z Space debut of Ekaterine ("call me Eka") Merabishvili, an artist whose canvases and drawings are so full of life and culture that it reminds us why we do this in the first place. Thanks for being part of the festival, Eka!

Ekaterine Merabishvili (b. 1976, Tbilisi, Georgia) is an accomplished Georgian painter and decorative artist.

She began formal academic training in the arts at the early age of six at the State Secondary Arts School. Merabishvili gained early recognition for her work through exhibitions, including a 1986 exhibition dedicated to World War II veterans in Tbilisi.

In 1993, Merabishvili enrolled at the Georgian State Academy of the Arts, where she concurrently worked in the Monumental and Decorative Arts. While at the Academy, her artwork was showcased in various student and student/faculty exhibitions and symposiums. From 1998 to 2000, Merabishvili instructed secondary arts school students in Tbilisi.

In 2000, Merabishvili graduated with honors from the Academy, and began her postgraduate studies at the Monumental and Decorative Arts department. She continued her studies for two years, finishing with a Masters in Monumental and Decorative Arts, before joining the Georgian Artists Union in 2002.

Merabishvili immigrated to the United States in 2003. She currently lives in Brooklyn with her family.
